Such as outcome of finding remains, not a living survivor, is not what we like to hear. However, as this story indicates, it is comforting to family and many others to find conclusive evidence and begin the process of closure all yearn for.
Additionally, it is testimony to the solid culture of perseverance that is still a mainstay in one element of our the society --- the military --- that no one is forgotten, no one is left behind even 49 years later. The effort continues to definitively learn the whereabouts of many other MIAs.
Recycling in Vietnam
      This great set of photos demonstrating the resourcefulness of the Vietnamese people. They may be poor, but their mechanical skills and ingenuity have served them well.
For you ol' cannoncockers, look at the fourth photo and note the 155mm powder canisters in the right foreground. Remember using them on the firebases for, oh, so many purposes once the powder had been expended??? (Yep, we were resourceful, too.)
     In case you were wondering what happened to all those fuel tanks we jettisoned from our aircraft in Southeast Asia……
